Mauricio Umansky Ready to Cha Cha for Mirrorball on Dancing With the Stars
Mauricio Umansky, the 53-year-old real estate mogul, is gearing up to hit the dance floor in Season 32 of Dancing With the Stars, and he’s got his biggest fans ready to cheer him on – his family.
“Everybody was super supportive,” Mauricio exclusively told Us Weekly on Wednesday, September 13, about his decision to join the upcoming season. “They are all going to be there cheering me on. I can’t wait.”
Mauricio shares his life with three daughters – Alexia, 27, Sophia, 23, and Portia, 15 – along with his wife, Kyle Richards. He’s also a stepfather to Kyle’s eldest daughter, Farrah, from a previous relationship. Mauricio expressed his excitement, revealing that his daughters and his wife from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, who’s 54, are eager to watch him dance on live TV.
“They can’t wait. They’ve already put it in their calendar. Everybody’s ready,” he said on Wednesday. “Everybody’s already adjusted their calendars for them, particularly Kyle ‘cause she’s so busy. The rest of the girls are all in L.A. and just waiting.”
Mauricio Joins the Star-Studded DWTS Cast
Mauricio Umansky, along with Alyson Hannigan and others, is set to compete for the coveted mirrorball trophy in the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars. The full cast was revealed during the Wednesday, September 13, episode of Good Morning America. The season’s professional dancers wowed with a high-energy choreographed routine before the big reveal.
Mauricio is one of the 14 contestants on Season 32, and he’ll be dancing alongside pro Emma Slater.
“Learning the choreography, being able to do the moves, the steps. I mean, it’s hard,” he confessed about his biggest challenge. “People don’t realize how hard this actually is. It’s actually really challenging, particularly for us who are not professionals at this. I mean, these guys have it down. I mean, they’re like, ‘1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.’ … But learning all the choreography is hard.”
Mauricio playfully added that he’s confident he’d win the mirrorball if his wife, Kyle, also joined DWTS. “I am the better dancer of us, 100 percent,” he quipped. “She does not like to dance. I mean, she likes to dance, but this [show] is not something that she’s, like, interested in.”
He continued, “She does not have any interest yet to compete. I keep telling her she should; I’ve been pushing her, and maybe after my season, she’ll get the itch. So hopefully she does. I think it’d be awesome.”
A Glance at Kyle and Mauricio’s Journey
Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky had a marriage that lasted more than two decades before surprising fans with their separation in 2023. Kyle was previously married to Guraish Aldjufrie from 1988 to 1992 and had daughter Farrah with him. The couple tied the knot in 1996 and announced their separation in July, describing it as the “most difficult year” in their marriage. However, they’re working on rebuilding their foundation.
Mauricio gave an update on Kyle, saying, “She’s doing great” and mentioned that she’s currently on a getaway with a friend, likely referring to country star Morgan Wade. “She’s actually traveling right now, having a good time [and] shopping,” Mauricio said. “She’s with a girlfriend. I’m not going to say where she is. I think she wants her privacy.”
