Teen Girl Shot While Trampolining in Front of Her Maryland Home
A 13-year-old girl is currently in recovery at a local hospital in Hyattsville, Maryland, after being shot while enjoying an evening of trampolining in her front yard on Thursday night.
“It hurts,” expressed the girl’s brother, who spoke to FOX 5 with the permission of his grandmother and opted not to show his face, describing the incident as “devastating.” He added, “I hope she pulls through.”
According to residents residing in the Prince George’s County neighborhood, they were startled by the sound of multiple gunshots at around 6:30 p.m. A witness informed authorities that they observed two individuals inside a red car, who, without warning, opened fire at the house and then sped away.
As the girl tried to seek safety, she was struck by a bullet, as reported by FOX 5. Although her condition is expected to improve, her family mentioned that the young girl remains deeply “traumatized” by the ordeal.
The Prince George’s County police have initiated an investigation to locate the suspects responsible for the shooting incident, with interviews of potential witnesses conducted on the night of the incident. Additionally, they are actively seeking any available surveillance footage related to the case.
In response to the incident, the boy stated his hope that the suspects would realize the gravity of their actions: “I hope y’all know that you shot a 13-year-old little girl. Think about that, you know?” He further expressed his utter bewilderment, having no knowledge of who could be behind the attack.
The prevalence of crime in the area was acknowledged by the boy, highlighting the harsh reality of the situation.
