Manhunt underway for third suspect in Massachusetts shooting that led to death of baby

Pregnant Woman Shot, Infant Dies: Third Suspect Sought in Holyoke, Massachusetts

In a troubling incident that unfolded in Holyoke, Massachusetts, prosecutors have now identified a third individual in connection with a shooting. This tragic event involved the shooting of a pregnant woman on a bus, leading to the premature birth of her baby, who sadly did not survive.

The authorities are actively searching for 28-year-old Kermith Alvarez, a resident of Holyoke. This incident occurred on October 4, and two other men have already been arraigned on murder charges. They are set to appear in court on November 3.

The Hampden District Attorney’s office issued a news release stating, “Alvarez is actively avoiding law enforcement, the firearm used in this incident has not been recovered, and he should be considered armed and dangerous.”

According to the police’s initial findings, it appeared that three male suspects were involved in a confrontation before gunshots were discharged. The pregnant woman, who remains unidentified, was shot while riding a public bus in the area. She was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, but her current status remains unknown.

Last week, Massachusetts lawmakers introduced a comprehensive gun control proposal in response to such incidents.

Tragically, the infant was delivered in the hospital but, sadly, did not survive.

Two men, Johnluis Sanchez, 30, and Alejandro Ramos, 22, both from Holyoke, were arraigned on murder charges. Sanchez was also injured during the incident and had to be hospitalized. Both have pleaded not guilty and have been ordered to be held without bail.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about Kermith Alvarez to contact the detective unit or the violent fugitive apprehension section of the Massachusetts State Police.
