Military Servicemember Arrested for Shooting at Woman and Children in Louisiana Road Rage Incident

A military servicemember found himself in handcuffs over the weekend after a startling confession. The 26-year-old Ryan Gooden was taken into custody in Louisiana on suspicion of a shocking crime: shooting at a woman and her two young children during a road rage incident.

Serious Charges Laid Against Gooden

The charges against Gooden are grave and include three counts of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property, and obstruction of justice. These allegations stem from an incident on August 20 when he confessed to being the shooter.

Terrifying Road Rage Incident

The incident unfolded when a woman was driving with her 7-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son. She reported that her vehicle was struck by gunfire, leading to a terrifying encounter. According to her account, she had an altercation with two individuals in a sedan, both of whom were Black men.

Gunfire Erupts

As tensions escalated, the men in the sedan followed her closely. Eventually, they pulled up alongside her vehicle. The driver, dressed in a military-style camouflage uniform, then fired a shot. The bullet struck the passenger-side front door of the woman’s vehicle.

Quick Escape

Following the gunfire, the suspects quickly fled the scene, leaving the woman and her children shaken but thankfully unhurt.

Surveillance Cameras Offer Clues

Law enforcement relied on surveillance cameras from nearby businesses to identify the suspect vehicle. The car bore the license plate “LA LPN AR19388 (Army Reserve)” and was registered to Ryan Gooden, a member of the armed forces.

Gooden Confirms Military Affiliation

When confronted by investigators, Gooden confirmed his military status. He admitted to exchanging words with the woman and firing at her vehicle using a .40 caliber Glock handgun, as detailed in the police report.

Ongoing Investigation

Fox News Digital has reached out to the U.S. Army Reserve for further information. As the investigation continues, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of maintaining composure during stressful situations on the road, avoiding confrontations, and seeking help from law enforcement when needed.
