Tragedy Strikes on Labor Day: Young LA Couple Fatally Shot While Their Infant Watches

In a heartbreaking incident that unfolded on Labor Day, a young Los Angeles couple found themselves in a life-altering situation while sitting in their parked vehicle with their 1-year-old child. According to a press release from the Los Angeles Police Department, 21-year-old Carlos Loera and 18-year-old Ashley Guzman were tragically shot and killed in the Harbor City neighborhood of Los Angeles at approximately 6:30 p.m. on that fateful Monday.

Sudden Violence Unfolds

Authorities were alerted to the incident through an “ambulance shooting” call, prompting a swift response from Harbor City area police officers. Upon their arrival, they discovered a male victim, later identified as Loera, and a female victim, identified as Guzman, both suffering from gunshot wounds.

Heartbreaking Loss

The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed that Loera succumbed to his injuries at the scene, marking a devastating loss for the young family. Guzman, the mother, was transported to a local hospital but tragically succumbed to her gunshot injuries as well.

Child’s Narrow Escape

In an even more harrowing twist, the investigation revealed that the couple’s 1-year-old child, who was present in the back seat of the parked vehicle, had also been injured by gunfire. The gender and name of the child were not disclosed by the police. Thankfully, the infant was taken to a nearby hospital, where medical professionals treated the injuries and later released the child into the care of family members.

As of now, the Los Angeles Police Department is actively searching for the suspect responsible for the untimely deaths of Loera and Guzman.
