Kevin Costner Declines Discussion on ‘Yellowstone’ Season 6

Kevin Costner’s Future in ‘Yellowstone’ Uncertain, Estranged Wife Raises Questions

Kevin Costner’s relationship with the popular TV series Yellowstone is under scrutiny as his estranged wife, Christine Baumgartner, brings forth questions about his involvement in the show’s potential sixth season. Recent court documents reveal that Baumgartner’s legal team has accused Costner of evading questions about whether he was offered a role in the next season or if he chose to quit.

This issue arises as part of their ongoing child support negotiations for their three children: Cayden (16), Hayes (14), and Grace (13). To establish an accurate financial arrangement, Baumgartner’s attorneys are seeking clarity on Costner’s income, which has been significantly impacted by his participation in the drama series.

For season 4 of Yellowstone, Costner earned approximately $11 million, which translates to about $1.1 million per episode. In the following season, his earnings dropped to $10 million, equivalent to $1.25 million per episode.

During the first half of the fifth season that premiered in November 2022, Costner was part of the cast. However, reports emerged that production for the second half was delayed due to his reported unwillingness to return for additional episodes. Although Costner’s lawyer denied any role in the production delay, Paramount Network later confirmed that Yellowstone would conclude after its fifth season, with a sequel series to follow.

In response to Costner’s decision to leave the show, Yellowstone co-creator Taylor Sheridan expressed disappointment as it affected the resolution of Costner’s character arc. This development has also played a significant role in Costner and Baumgartner’s child support dispute. Baumgartner had initially requested $248,000 per month in child support, while Costner argued against this amount, citing a decrease in his earnings following his exit from the series.

Costner’s legal battle with Baumgartner took another turn when the court temporarily granted her $129,755 per month in child support, along with orders for Costner to pay legal fees and forensic costs.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Costner’s future involvement in Yellowstone, his potential to earn from the show’s profits remains a point of contention. Even as he steps away from his role, Costner’s legal team asserts his entitlement to a share of profit participation from the show, extending beyond his participation in the sixth season.

As the legal proceedings continue, the fate of Kevin Costner’s relationship with Yellowstone remains a topic of discussion, leaving fans and followers curious about what lies ahead for both the actor and the show.
