Tragedy Strikes as School Bus Collision Claims High School Student’s Life

In a heart-wrenching incident, a fatal crash involving a school bus and a car has left the community in shock. The accident occurred on a Friday afternoon when a high school student driving a car collided with a school bus on Kansas State Highway 254. Tragically, one of the students in the car lost their life.

School Bus Driver Suspected of Fault

According to Butler County Sheriff Monty Hughey, preliminary findings suggest that the school bus driver may be at fault. It is believed that the bus driver failed to yield the right of way, resulting in the devastating collision.

Loss of a Promising Junior

The passenger in the car has been identified as Halie Friesen, a junior at Circle High School. Sadly, Halie later succumbed to her injuries at a hospital. The condition of the car’s driver, who was also injured in the crash, remains serious.

Thankfully, School Bus Passengers Unharmed

Despite the tragic collision, there were 14 children on the school bus at the time, and thankfully, none of them sustained injuries in the accident. Authorities are currently conducting an ongoing investigation to determine the full details of the incident.
