Man Sentenced to 110 Years for Fatal Shooting Outside Indiana Auto Plant
A man who took the lives of his former girlfriend and her grandmother outside an automotive seating plant in Indiana has been handed a 110-year prison sentence. The judge presiding over the case described the killings as “brutal and heinous.”
Gary Ferrell II, aged 28, managed to avoid a potential death sentence by pleading guilty in April to two counts of murder. These charges were in connection with the tragic events of 2021, when he took the lives of Promise Mays, 21, and Pamela Sledd, 62. Ferrell’s sentencing took place recently.
The incident unfolded as the two women from Rossville, Indiana, were on their way to their work shift at NHK Seating of America in Frankfort on August 18, 2021. Shockingly, Ferrell, who was also an employee at the same company, shot them outside the business premises. Shortly after these gruesome killings, Ferrell was arrested when he crashed his vehicle in a construction zone.
The presiding judge in the case, Clinton Superior Court Judge Justin H. Hunter, wrote in the sentencing order that the murders were not impulsive but premeditated. He emphasized that Ferrell’s actions were “brutal and heinous,” highlighting that the two victims witnessed each other being shot during the tragic incident, according to WISH-TV.
Furthermore, Judge Hunter noted Ferrell’s disturbing sense of entitlement, stating that Ferrell sought to exert control over Promise Mays, both in life and in death. This was despite the fact that Mays had shown kindness to the many individuals she had encountered during her short and precious life.
The automotive seating plant, located in Frankfort, Indiana, approximately 50 miles northwest of Indianapolis, is responsible for designing and manufacturing vehicle seating.
