Worker Assaults Colleague with Hammer, Nonchalantly Walks Away
A shocking incident unfolded at the Bright Sheet Metal Co. in Indianapolis when a factory worker brutally attacked a colleague with a hammer and then calmly left the scene. Austin Hahn, 27, allegedly struck his friend multiple times on the head with a tinner hammer on the morning of August 20th. The unexpected assault left the victim with severe injuries, including skull fractures, brain bleeds, a broken jaw, and missing teeth.
Court records reveal that Hahn, seemingly without any warning, approached his colleague from behind and used the sharp side of the hammer to inflict multiple blows. Witnesses recounted seeing Hahn strike the victim at least six times, demonstrating the ferocity of the attack. The incident took place before 7:30 a.m. at the factory.
Following the assault, Hahn casually disposed of the hammer in a trash bin in front of an unsuspecting employee who was outside at the time. While leaving, Hahn even paused to pat his injured co-worker on the chest and remarked, “S— happens,” according to sources.
After the attack, Hahn left the scene and drove to his mother’s house. However, he was not able to evade the consequences of his actions. Responding officers arrived at the factory to find the victim in a severely injured state, with significant head injuries and other bodily harm.
This incident was particularly shocking to Hahn’s colleagues, who revealed that he and the victim had been close friends before a dispute arose several weeks prior. Although Hahn had offered an apology, tensions appeared to have escalated to a shocking degree.
Hahn’s mother ultimately contacted the Anderson Police Department, leading to his arrest later that morning. He now faces charges of attempted murder and remains in custody without bail. Hahn is scheduled to appear in court on October 19th.
