Daycare Employee Arrested for Physically Abusing 4-Year-Old Child in Georgia
A shocking incident in Georgia has led to the arrest of a daycare employee who was caught physically abusing a 4-year-old boy earlier this month, as reported by the Snellville Police Department. The incident occurred at the Sunshine Child Learning Center on September 9.
Vivian Rankins, aged 67, faces charges of second-degree cruelty to children, according to law enforcement officials. The arrest followed the discovery of a video that showed Rankins physically assaulting the young child. This alarming situation came to light when officers arrested Rankins after reviewing the disturbing footage.
The surveillance video, which was obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta, appears to depict Rankins shaking and pushing the innocent child. The child’s mother, Samerramise Gibson, was made aware of this horrific incident by another concerned parent.
Gibson expressed her profound dismay, stating, “I was livid. You hurt my son.” She requested Rankins to share the video, but it took six days for her to receive it. After witnessing the distressing footage, the family promptly filed a report.
“I’m looking at my son like, ‘I can’t believe somebody actually did this to you that we trusted,’” the mother added, her trust in the daycare center shattered.
The child had been attending the Sunshine Child Learning Center for three years before this incident. Jordan Denton, the boy’s father, expressed his anger upon viewing the footage, emphasizing that no circumstance justifies such behavior towards a 4-year-old.
“There’s no four-year-old who can do anything to make you that angry to the point where all that is happening,” Denton told FOX 5. “From picking my son up by his neck, to shaking him, to pushing him back down.”
The Snellville Police Department is actively investigating the incident, although no further details are available at this time.
