Georgia couple files lawsuit against doctor accused of posting images of their decapitated baby online

Georgia Couple Files Second Lawsuit Over Baby’s Graphic Images on Social Media

A young couple from Georgia has taken legal action against a doctor, alleging that their baby’s decapitated images were posted on social media. Jessica Ross, 20, and Treveon Isaiah Taylor Sr., 21, initially accused OB-GYN Tracey St. Julian of mishandling their son’s delivery at Southern Regional Medical Center in July. They have now filed a second lawsuit against Dr. Jackson Gates, claiming he shared disturbing autopsy photos on social media.

The family’s attorney, Rod Edmond, expressed deep concern, stating, “After all of the abuse suffered by this young couple, unfortunately, Dr. Gates continued to perpetuate it, their abuse, by posting both photos and video of their decapitated child on social media, namely Instagram.”

In their lawsuit, the couple alleges that Dr. Gates accepted $2,500 to conduct an autopsy on their baby and subsequently shared a full-face picture and organ videos on Instagram. In response, Dr. Gates defended his actions, asserting that his social media posts were for educational purposes and he would never reveal patient identities.

Attorneys for the young couple argue that Dr. Gates betrayed their trust, using their tragedy to boost his online presence. Cory Lynch, another attorney representing the couple, stated, “Dr. Gates consciously waived his duty to this young couple. He traded his duty to them in exchange for likes and followers on Instagram.”

In their previous lawsuit filed in July, the couple accused Dr. Julian of using excessive force during the baby’s birth, causing severe injuries. Eventually, a STAT Cesarean section was performed, but the hospital allegedly failed to inform the family about the decapitation, urging them to cremate their son instead of seeking an autopsy.

Both lawsuits remain pending, leaving the young couple grappling with the aftermath of their traumatic experiences.
