Georgia cold case investigation into missing woman leads to 3 arrests

Three Arrested in Connection to Cold Case of Missing Woman

In a significant development, three individuals have been apprehended in connection with a cold case involving the disappearance of Matilde Gonzalez, who vanished nearly four years ago in Georgia. The Cobb County Police Department announced these arrests on Monday.

Matilde Gonzalez, 43, was last seen in Cobb County on October 11, 2019, and her family reported her missing a day later. Right from the start, investigators suspected foul play.

On September 8, authorities made a substantial breakthrough that led to the apprehension of three suspects: Alejandra Castro, 41; Abel Castro, 45; and Samantha Vasquez, 20.

Alejandra Castro and Samantha Vasquez face charges of malice murder, while the Castros also face charges of concealing a death and cruelty to children.

The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office initially received the missing persons report and noted that foul play had been suspected from the very beginning. This suspicion eventually led to the case being handed over to the Cobb County Police Cold Case Unit for further investigation.

The exact connection between the suspects and Matilde Gonzalez’s disappearance has not been disclosed by the sheriff’s office.
