Florida Man Arrested for Throwing Hot Coffee in Fast Food Worker’s Face
In a startling incident caught on surveillance footage, a Florida man became infuriated over the price of a cup of coffee at a drive-thru and slapped the hot beverage from a worker’s hand, causing severe burns. The Miami Springs Police Department shared the video, capturing the moment the customer turned verbally abusive toward the fast-food employee.
This unsettling incident occurred on August 25 at a fast-food establishment in Miami Springs, Florida. The heated exchange involved 64-year-old Elizar Ravelo, who was upset about the cost of his order. The restaurant manager attempted to defuse the situation, expressing dissatisfaction with Ravelo’s treatment of the employees and warning that continued misconduct would result in his banishment from the restaurant.
Despite this warning, the disgruntled customer persisted, launching a verbal assault and even threatening to throw coffee at the manager. In the footage, seconds later, the employee handed Ravelo his food order along with a steaming cup of coffee. Ravelo intentionally slapped the hot coffee from the worker’s outstretched hand, causing it to spill onto her arm and chest, leaving painful burn marks.
After the incident, Ravelo fled the scene, but the Miami Springs Detective Bureau swiftly located him and placed him under arrest. Ravelo now faces a felony battery charge, although he has been released from custody after posting a $5,000 bond.
The Miami Springs Police Department has not yet responded to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
