Police in Florida are on the hunt for a suspected gunman who is accused of killing a man and injuring a woman during a birthday celebration at an Airbnb rental home.

A family from Orlando had rented a home in Davenport to host a birthday party for a one-year-old child, according to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday.
The Tragic Turn of Events
As the night unfolded, a 27-year-old man carried two plates of food to a vehicle parked on the road. While returning to the house, gunshots suddenly erupted from the vehicle. The man was struck and fell to the ground.
A Terrifying Sequence of Events
The wounded man managed to get back on his feet and ran toward the house. Shockingly, the suspect vehicle reversed, and an individual from the car stepped out, firing more shots at the man.
Courage Amidst Chaos
Meanwhile, a 26-year-old woman also made a dash for the safety of the house. Tragically, she was shot through the door, sustaining a gunshot wound to her thigh. Despite her injury, she bravely opened the door and pulled the man, who had been shot moments earlier, inside.
A Grim Outcome
The injured man was rushed to a hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries. Fortunately, the injured woman is expected to recover.
Unanswered Questions
Sheriff Judd expressed bewilderment at the events, saying, “All of that is a mystery to us. Did they not like the free meal? Was it served to them cold? Did they use that as a ruse to get him outside, so they could shoot and kill him? All of that is under investigation.”
Suspects on the Run
The suspect vehicle fled toward the Orlando area, and at present, the investigators have not been able to identify the individuals responsible.

Sheriff Judd noted that this was not the typical house party scenario that leads to violence. However, there appeared to be some conversations between the suspect and the victim that led the victim to bring food to the suspects in the early hours of the morning.
