Grande expressed that although she didn’t find the original cover “horrible,” she acknowledged that her fans’ criticism was valid. The change was prompted by the reaction the album received upon its release back in 2013. She admitted feeling sad about it initially and decided to address the concerns by changing the cover.
The artist shared, “You were right, but you’re not always right. Your bullying has been consistent for the past ten years, so there’s that. It leaves me with wounds that make me question everything I’ve done since.”
