Man Convicted of Murder Escapes from Pennsylvania Prison
Pennsylvania law enforcement is on a search mission for a man who escaped from Chester County Prison. The escapee, Danelo Cavalcante, had been convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend back in 2021. The West Chester Police Department shared on Facebook that the 34-year-old managed to escape from his confinement.
Cavalcante was last seen dressed in a white T-shirt and gray shorts. He’s approximately 5 feet tall, weighs around 120 pounds, and has long, black curly hair with brown eyes. He is known to be fluent in Portuguese and Spanish, and he knows some English.
District Attorney Deb Ryan stated that Cavalcante was last spotted on Wawaset Road in Pocopson Township around 9:40 a.m. on Thursday. Various law enforcement agencies, including Pennsylvania State Police and U.S. Marshals, are actively involved in the search. They’re using K-9 units, drones, and helicopters to locate him.
Authorities emphasize that Cavalcante is considered extremely dangerous. If you come across him, it’s best not to approach him. Instead, call 911 to report his whereabouts.
Cavalcante was convicted for the first-degree murder of his ex-girlfriend, Debora Brandao, in Schuylkill Township. During the tragic incident on April 18, 2021, Brandao’s young children were present. After the murder, Cavalcante fled to Virginia, where he was eventually apprehended by Virginia State Police. Just last week, he was sentenced to life in prison. He’s also wanted for a 2017 murder in Brazil.
Pennsylvania State Police Captain Robert Bailey assured the public that all efforts are being made to bring Cavalcante to justice. District Attorney Ryan mentioned that the victim’s family has been informed about his escape.
