Elderly Man Found Deceased, Brother Missing in California Aqueduct
The search for a missing 86-year-old California man has taken a somber turn as authorities discovered his lifeless body beneath a bridge. Now, the hunt is on for his missing 78-year-old brother, as reported on Monday.
Minas Khacheryan’s remains were located in an aqueduct situated under a bridge at 195th Street West and West Avenue G in Lancaster, a suburb of Los Angeles. Both men, Minas and his brother Grigor Khacheryan, had been reported missing last Friday.
Their last known location was at the aqueduct, where they had gone fishing. They had traveled from their hometown of Glendale to Lancaster for this outing. Adding to the concern, Grigor Khacheryan had recently undergone open-heart surgery.
Authorities have not uncovered any evidence of foul play in this tragic incident. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) released a statement indicating their intention to resume the search for Grigor Khacheryan at 7 a.m. on Tuesday.
In their efforts, LASD will deploy approximately two dozen divers employing sonar technology, while also controlling the aqueduct’s water flow to facilitate the search. The cause of Minas Khacheryan’s passing remains pending further investigation.
The Khacheryan brothers’ disappearance and the subsequent discovery have brought deep concern to their community, with hope that Grigor Khacheryan will soon be located and brought to safety.
