Deadly Shooting at Massachusetts Party Leaves One Dead and Several Injured
In a tragic incident, seven people were shot during an overnight party in Lynn, Massachusetts, a city located just north of Boston. One person lost their life, and the incident has shaken the community.
Essex District Attorney Paul F. Tucker revealed that one individual was tragically killed, with two others in critical condition and four suffering non-life threatening injuries. The shooting occurred at a gathering where people had come together to socialize.
Brian Diaz, a resident of Lynn, shared his heartbreak as he informed reporters that his 25-year-old brother, Abraham Diaz, was among the victims who lost their lives. He set up a GoFundMe to gather support for his brother’s memorial and funeral expenses.
Lynn police received a distress call at approximately 2:20 a.m. reporting multiple gunshots fired at 189 Essex Street. Upon arrival, officers encountered a chaotic scene, where seven victims were found with gunshot wounds. Immediate medical assistance was provided to the injured.
District Attorney Tucker expressed deep concern over the violence that unfolded, describing it as an act that has profoundly affected the neighborhood and the city. According to Tucker, the shots were fired from a vehicle, leading investigators to suspect that the attack was planned and targeted.
No suspects have been apprehended at this time. The Essex County District Attorney’s office and Lynn Police are actively working on the investigation to determine those responsible for the tragic incident.
A neighbor who was in his house at the time of the shooting described the frightening moments, recounting the sound of gunshots, screeching tires, and people screaming. The party was taking place in a parking lot where the shooting took place.
Police Chief Christopher Reddy expressed the commitment to bring justice to the situation, emphasizing that no family should experience such a devastating loss due to senseless violence.
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward and help in the ongoing investigation.
Lynn Mayor Jared Nicholson extended his heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and condemned the violence that shook the city. He echoed the sentiments of the community, expressing outrage that such a level of violence could occur in their streets and neighborhood.
