Illinois Corrections Officer Sentenced to Probation in Connection with Wife’s Death
A former corrections officer, Bradley Jenkins, has been sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge linked to the 2019 death of his newlywed wife, Alissa Martin. We’ll break down what happened in simple terms.
Bradley Jenkins, who worked as a lieutenant in the Illinois Department of Corrections back then, faced a charge of misdemeanor assault in 2019, to which he later admitted guilt.
The tragic incident unfolded in a St. Louis parking garage near Busch Stadium, where the Cardinals play. Alissa Martin, aged 27 and also a corrections officer, recorded a confrontation between herself and her husband.
In the video, Martin can be heard yelling at Jenkins, then 30, to stop hitting her in the face just before she drops her phone. Sadly, Martin was later found dead at the bottom of the parking garage.
A Tragic Fall
According to a police affidavit obtained by the Chicago Tribune, shortly after her phone drops, you can hear Martin scream as she falls, followed by the thud of her body hitting the ground.
Authorities discovered Martin’s phone, which was still recording, on the seventh floor of the parking garage.
Initially, Jenkins faced a third-degree felony domestic assault charge, but a grand jury chose not to indict him. Instead, he was charged with misdemeanor assault, as reported by the St. Louis-Dispatch.
Legal Battle
Martin’s mother is currently engaged in a wrongful-death legal battle against Jenkins, a bar, and the parking garage where her daughter tragically lost her life.
That’s the sad and unfortunate story of Bradley Jenkins and Alissa Martin, which ultimately led to Jenkins being sentenced to probation for his role in this heartbreaking incident.
