Abused Wife Confesses to Husband’s Fatal Stabbing During Zoom Call Drama
In a startling revelation brought to light by the documentary “Faking It” on Discovery+, the harrowing tale of Penelope Jackson, a 66-year-old woman, and the fatal stabbing of her husband, David Jackson, unfolds. The incident occurred during a Zoom call that took a tragic turn.
Penelope Jackson, at her own birthday party, found herself in a heated dispute with her husband, David, aged 78, while their daughter and son-in-law watched through the digital lens. The situation escalated, leading to a shocking act.
Jackson confessed her crime to a 999 call handler, displaying an unsettling sense of pride. She admitted to attempting to stab her husband through the heart but grimly noted, “he doesn’t have one.” In a chilling tone, she declared, “I’ve killed my husband, or tried to because I’ve had enough. I might go and stab him again.”
Upon the arrival of the police, she continued to exhibit an eerie calmness, branding her husband as a “bully” and stating, “I’m glad I’ve done it” as he lay bleeding in the kitchen. Her detachment from the consequences of her actions left experts astounded.
Body language expert Dr. Cliff Lansley observed her bizarre admissions, noting that she seemed proud of her actions, as if she wanted to make it clear that she accepted responsibility for the entire ordeal. Forensic psychologist Kerry Daynes described Jackson as “emotionally distant” yet resolute in her conviction.
The grim irony of the situation is not lost, as Daynes remarks, “It’s darkly comical, in some respects, but of course, it’s not comical at all because we’ve got a dead man here. We’ve got a man who’s a father, and he’s lost his life.”
During her trial, Jackson revealed the torment she endured throughout her marriage. She recounted years of abuse, including violence, unwanted advances, belittling, and coercive control. The breaking point came during a Zoom call dispute over her birthday dinner, which included bubble and squeak alongside a more lavish meal.
Jackson, unable to bear the weight of her suffering any longer, lost control. She first stabbed her husband in the bedroom before delivering the fatal blow in the kitchen. Her confession note, discovered later, offered a glimpse into her tortured mindset.
In October 2021, Judge Martin Picton sentenced Jackson to life in prison with a minimum of 18 years, remarking that he had not seen a “shred of remorse” from her.
“Faking It” series 7 is available for streaming on Discovery+, offering a deep dive into this shocking case of family tragedy.
