Cher Unveils Her First-Ever Christmas Album
It may still be Halloween season, but Cher has already fast-forwarded to Christmas! The legendary 77-year-old singer recently dropped some exciting news: her first holiday album, titled “Cher Christmas,” is set to grace our ears later this year. In an Instagram post, she playfully asked, “Are you spending Christmas with me?” (Hint: The answer should be a resounding yes).
Cher’s holiday album boasts not one, not two, but three eye-catching covers. One features her standing on an iceberg, dazzling in a silver gown. She humorously quipped, “Christmas already? But I’ve got nothing to wear.” We’re not entirely convinced she has wardrobe issues, but who are we to question Cher?
The third cover, exclusively available on Cher’s website, showcases her sporting an all-white casual pantsuit while kicking water at the camera.
A Musical Icon Takes on Christmas
Cher, a true living legend (born Cherilyn Sarkisian), has been captivating audiences for over five decades. Her illustrious career spans the realms of music, TV, film, and fashion. She’s just one Tony Award away from achieving EGOT status, an impressive feat by any measure.
While many pop stars venture into the world of holiday albums, Cher’s entry into this genre is a momentous occasion. Despite a career spanning 60 years, she has never tackled Christmas music. She’s won an Oscar, recorded an ABBA covers album, and starred in the beloved movie musical “Burlesque,” but a Christmas album has remained elusive. To call this album “long-awaited” would be a massive understatement.
Cher teased, “It’s a Cher Christmas album, not your mother’s typical holiday album.” In a surprising move, she revealed that this album would feature guest vocalists, a rarity for her. “I’ve never had duets. I’ve never had people on any of my records. This was a last-minute thing,” she explained. “But they’re special: all of them.”
While the official tracklist and release date remain undisclosed, fans can already preorder the album on Cher’s website. She has kept her special guests under wraps, but an Amazon listing for the album hints at appearances from Darlene Love, Michael Bublé, Tyga, Cyndi Lauper, and Stevie Wonder.
A Festive Return
“Cher Christmas” marks the iconic singer’s return to the music scene after a five-year hiatus. Her last album, “Dancing Queen,” a collection of ABBA covers, was released in 2018 to coincide with the film “Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again.”
During her interview on “Good Morning Britain,” Cher mentioned uncertainty regarding a potential third “Mamma Mia” film. Producer Judy Craymer has been dropping hints, but Cher humorously confessed, “So far, I haven’t seen a script. I can’t say. Can I tell you something? I never know exactly what I’m going to do until I do it.” Cher’s fans will undoubtedly be eagerly awaiting her next move, whether it’s a holiday serenade or a surprise film appearance.
