Brits Overcome ‘First Day Nerves’ at Work in Two Weeks

BRACE YOURSELF: New Job Jitters Last 2 Weeks for Brits

Getting those first-day butterflies under control takes Brits a solid two weeks, according to some eye-opening research. And get this, rookie employees are sweating eight days before the job even kicks off!

A bunch of 18 to 25-year-olds (about 1,000 of them) were grilled for their thoughts, thanks to Cadbury’s curious minds. The skinny on their fears? Top contenders: the dreaded new colleague acceptance test and the classic “what the heck am I doing” dilemma.

But wait, there’s more! A third of these fresh faces are losing sleep over not becoming speed demons at picking things up on the fly. Enter TikTok, the superhero of social media platforms, where these new recruits swoop in for advice.

Psst, job hunters! September is apparently your season to shine, aligning perfectly with the school calendar – a back-to-the-grind tradition that Gen Z seems to carry in their DNA.

But hey, the worry train doesn’t stop there. Around 17% are haunted by ‘imposter syndrome’, while 11% are petrified they’ll forget everyone’s name before they even know it. On top of that, a quarter of these newbies are sweating that the teams they’re joining are too darn close-knit to crack.

Fear not, because the research reveals the magical antidotes to these jitters: a squad that waves you in with open arms (48%), colleagues who mind their manners (40%), and an office that’s a regular hoot (30%). Oh, and a boss who gives you a shoulder to whine on? That’s a big yes for 27%.

But hold the phone! About 18% want trust – yes, trust – right from the get-go. They’re saying, “Hey, give us a shot to prove our awesome skills!” And you know what? 65% of the lot find starting anew totally thrilling, even if a whopping 59% are routinely nervous nellies in their day-to-day.

Why all this chatter, you ask? Cadbury and the Prince’s Trust are tag-teaming for the second year, giving a hearty boost to those kicking off fresh journeys this autumn. Inspirational stories from three big shots are set to adorn 5,000 Dairy Milk bars, serving up a slice of encouragement for those diving into the unknown.

Christina Bland from Mondelez had a say too, “We’re rolling out these bars to showcase young trailblazers and sprinkle some pep into those just starting. The Prince’s Trust is doing amazing things, and we’re here to spread the word.”

Tom Keer, the partnership guru at The Prince’s Trust, added, “We’re all about turning young guns into confident champs. With Cadbury on board, we’re reaching out to all those unsure faces, whispering, ‘We’ve got your back.'”

In a sneaky twist, those Cadbury bars are packing a QR code punch that leads straight to The Prince’s Trust services – offering help, advice, and the works. For the full scoop, check out their website. 🍫🌟
