Tragedy Strikes: 10-Year-Old Boy Dies After Electric Shock at Seaside Hotel

A young boy, identified as Jack Piper-Sheach, aged 10 and hailing from Wales, lost his life due to a severe electric shock in the reception area of Tiffany’s Hotel, located on Blackpool’s iconic promenade in Lancashire.

The incident unfolded on the evening of September 3 when emergency services were summoned to the “pink hotel,” as it is locally known, at 10:39 PM. Young Jack was discovered unresponsive at the scene.

Upon arriving at the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool, medical experts diagnosed him with injuries that strongly indicated exposure to a high voltage electrical source. Despite relentless efforts by medical staff, Jack passed away on September 7, surrounded by his grieving family.

Lancashire Police spokespersons have revealed that an inquest into Jack’s untimely death will commence at Blackpool and Fylde Coroner’s Court this Friday, under the jurisdiction of Coroner Alan Wilson.

After conducting initial investigations, Lancashire Police transferred the case to Blackpool Council for further scrutiny. In light of the ongoing investigations into health and safety, the local authority has advised Tiffany’s Hotel to temporarily suspend operations.

A spokesperson for Blackpool Council clarified, “The investigation remains active, and we cannot provide an estimate for when the hotel might reopen at this juncture. Our dedicated team, with support from the Health and Safety Executive, is diligently conducting the investigation.”

Following the tragic news of Jack’s passing, representatives from Tiffany’s Hotel expressed their profound sorrow. They conveyed, “We are deeply saddened by the news we received today, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this incredibly difficult time. We stand ready to offer full cooperation to the relevant authorities in their investigative efforts.”
