Atlanta gunman shoots 5 before killing himself

Gunman Injures Five, Then Takes Own Life During Atlanta Domestic Dispute

Five individuals were shot and wounded on Sunday morning in Atlanta during a domestic altercation at a residence, with the alleged shooter ultimately ending his own life, according to the police.

Deputy Chief Charles Hampton revealed that among the victims were a 3-year-old child and a 15-year-old adolescent. All five victims were transported to a medical facility and are presently in stable condition, Hampton confirmed.

The suspected shooter, an 18-year-old, was discovered deceased at the scene due to what authorities believe to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Hampton stated.

The incident was a result of an ongoing domestic dispute within the home that took a violent turn, as shared by Hampton. The perpetrator shot all five victims before ending his own life.

The unidentified relationship between the shooter and the victims has not been disclosed by Hampton. Furthermore, there were two other children present in the residence who were fortunately unharmed.

Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum noted that this incident is just one of several shootings stemming from domestic disputes that occurred over the weekend. The range of confrontations involved disputes over unpaid rent among family members and disagreements between roommates, he explained.

Schierbaum stressed that these incidents highlight cases of domestic violence where firearms are employed to settle disputes.
