Three Albuquerque Firefighters Arrested for Alleged Rape
In a distressing incident, Albuquerque police have taken three firefighters into custody, one of whom is retired, on charges of sexually assaulting a woman in the previous month.
According to the authorities, the reported sexual assault took place on July 15 during a social event after a golf tournament. The spokesperson for the police, Gilbert Gallegos, shared this information in a news release issued on Wednesday.
The victim was assaulted within an apartment and managed to escape through a bathroom window.
The situation came to light when a resident from the apartment complex discovered the distressed woman and promptly contacted the authorities.
The individuals involved in this case have been identified as 46-year-old Aden Heyman, 32-year-old Angel Portillo, and 44-year-old Anthony Martin. All three have been charged with one count of criminal sexual penetration.
New Mexico law enforcement states that three firefighters from Albuquerque are now in custody for allegedly raping a woman last month.
Both Heyman and Portillo are active members of the Albuquerque Fire Department, while Martin had recently retired from service.
Despite efforts to reach out, none of them have responded to messages from The Associated Press through their provided cellphone numbers.
Albuquerque Fire Chief Emily Jaramillo has conveyed that all three individuals have been placed on administrative leave. However, she refrained from further comment due to the now-filed criminal charges.
Jaramillo assured that the fire department will fully cooperate with the investigation and expressed concern about the serious nature of the allegations.
Miguel Tittmann, president of the local firefighters’ union, deferred all inquiries to the city due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.
