Tragic Loss Strikes Arkansas Family as Father Passes Away While Helping Son Move into College Dorm
A heartrending incident unfolded as an Arkansas father, Jeremy Tillman, 45, lost his life while assisting his son’s move-in at Arkansas State University. The incident occurred on August 19, when Tillman collapsed unexpectedly during the process. According to a police report obtained by FOX Television Stations, he was found unresponsive and with foam around his mouth by first responders.
Tillman’s fiancée, Beth Goodson, shared that he likely pushed himself too hard during the move-in, leading to the unfortunate turn of events. “He came through the door and he was in obvious distress,” Goodson shared. “He just had a very sudden medical event as we were moving things in. I guess he may have strained too hard.”
This physically demanding situation ultimately took a toll on the 45-year-old father’s health, resulting in his passing. He was pronounced dead at St. Bernard Hospital in Jonesboro.
A Pillar of Strength Remembered
Beth Goodson fondly remembered Tillman as a man of unwavering integrity. Not only was he a devoted father to his own children, but he also played a significant role in the lives of her six children. “He showed our children how a man should treat a woman, and how to be intentional with your word,” Goodson shared. “He was selfless, and always worked hard day-in-and-day-out to ensure everyone had the things that they wanted and needed, often to his own detriment.”
“He loved all our children, and was the epitome of what a man and father should be,” she added.

Arkansas State University expressed its heartfelt condolences to the Tillman family. The university’s Chancellor Todd Shields conveyed sympathy and support to Jace Tillman, the student affected by this tragic loss.
