Aerosmith Postpones Farewell Tour Dates Due to Steven Tyler’s Vocal Cord Injury
Rock legends Aerosmith kicked off their “Peace Out” farewell tour with a bang, but it seems the tour has hit a temporary pause. Just one week into the tour, the band had to postpone several upcoming shows. Why? Well, it turns out their frontman, the iconic Steven Tyler, had a little mishap with his vocal cords during a recent gig in New York.
Steven Tyler, who’s 75 years young, encountered trouble with his voice during a Saturday night performance. He shared the unfortunate news with Aerosmith’s three million Instagram followers, saying, “I’m heartbroken to say I have received strict doctor’s orders not to sing for the next 30 days. I sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday’s show that led to subsequent bleeding. We’ll need to postpone a few dates so that we can come back and give you the performance you deserve.”
Aerosmith, hailing from Boston and rocking the world since 1970, is famous for timeless hits like “Dream On,” “Walk This Way,” “Sweet Emotion,” “Cryin’,” “Crazy,” and “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing.” Steven Tyler, known as the “Demon of Screamin'” for his vocal theatrics, has been a crucial part of the band’s success.
Back in May, Aerosmith announced their final tour after an incredible 50-year run. In their statement, they said, “After 50 years, 10 world tours, and playing for over 100 million fans… It’s time for one last go! Fans will see one of the most significant American rock bands in history one last time during this not-to-be-missed final tour. Every night will celebrate the five decades of Aerosmith’s groundbreaking hits as they celebrate 50 years as America’s greatest rock band… It’s not goodbye it’s PEACE OUT! Get ready and walk this way, you’re going to get the best show of our lives.”
Originally, the 40-date farewell tour included a hometown show in Boston on New Year’s Eve, with the grand finale planned for January 26, 2024, in Montreal, Canada. However, due to Steven Tyler’s vocal cord injury, new tour dates have been scheduled for January 29 to February 29, 2024, in cities like Detroit, Chicago, Washington DC, Toronto, Raleigh, and Cleveland. Aerosmith is determined to make this farewell tour unforgettable for their fans.
