Rapper 50 Cent Delays Phoenix Concert Due to Extreme Heat
Hot temperatures in Phoenix have once again led to a concert being postponed, with rapper 50 Cent raising concerns about the dangerous triple-digit heat.
The planned performance by rapper 50 Cent at the Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre in west Phoenix had to be rescheduled due to the intense weather. The rapper, known as Curtis Jackson, shared his worries on social media, saying, “I’ll be back in Arizona soon! 116 degrees is dangerous for everyone.”
As summer winds down, Phoenix is still dealing with scorching heat. Meteorologists from the National Weather Service reported that on Monday, the temperature reached a scalding 117 degrees Fahrenheit. Tuesday’s forecast predicts the same high temperature, surpassing the previous August 29 record of 113 degrees set in 1981.
Notably, 50 Cent isn’t the only musician affected by the blazing temperatures this summer. In July, the heavy metal band Disturbed had to postpone their concert due to equipment problems caused by the extreme heat. The rescheduled outdoor show is now set for March 2, 2024.
Country singer Morgan Wallen faced challenges at his July 19 concert as well. Some fans mentioned that the concession stands at Chase Field ran out of water, and others left the venue early due to the oppressive heat, even though the baseball stadium’s retractable roof was closed.
Phoenix is on the verge of breaking the record for the most 110-degree days in a single year. The previous record was 53 days set in 2020. As of Tuesday, the city has experienced its 51st day with temperatures reaching or exceeding 110 degrees.
The “The Final Lap Tour” concert by 50 Cent remains unscheduled after being postponed. This situation comes as millions across the Southwest endured an unprecedented heatwave in July. Phoenix, in particular, had an astonishing streak of 31 consecutive days with temperatures surpassing 110 degrees.
