3.6-Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Ohio: Latest Update | Fox News

Earthquake Shakes Up Ohio – Cameras Go for a Spin!

Hold on to your hats, Ohioans! Last night, things got a little shaky in northeast Ohio, like someone was giving the region’s traffic cameras a wild ride on I-90. The Earth, always one to keep us guessing, decided it was time for a 3.6-magnitude earthquake party just before the clock struck 11 p.m. You know, just when you thought Sunday nights were getting dull!

The epicenter of this mini-shaker was about 2.5 miles southeast of Madison in Lake County, as reported by the brainy folks at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). At first, they were like, “Oh, it’s a 4.0!” but then they played it cool and dialed it back to a 3.6. Earthquakes, they’re just as indecisive as the weather.

Guess what? Our dear traffic cameras from the Ohio Department of Transportation didn’t miss out on the action either. They were catching all the excitement along I-90 and US-20 in Lake and Ashtabula Counties. It’s like they were saying, “Hey, we’re not just here to capture red-light runners, we’re up for some seismic fun too!”

Now, before you start panicking and imagining your house turning into a wobbly Jell-O mold, let’s take a breath. The good folks over at FOX8 Cleveland want you to know that nobody reported any buildings falling apart. Phew! However, some brave souls in a few counties did admit that they felt the ground doing the tango inside their homes.

But hold on, this wasn’t the first time Ohio got a little Earth-quake-y. Just a few days ago, a tiny 2.3 magnitude earthquake decided to say “hello” to Madison Township. And guess what? Over the past four days, northeast Ohio has experienced three quakes. It’s like the Earth realized we needed a bit of excitement and decided to spice things up!

You might be wondering if this is a typical Ohio thing. Well, the USGS tells us that this part of the world has had its share of moderately frequent earthquakes since way back in 1823. They’ve been doing the earthquake dance for quite a while. The grandest of them all was a 4.8 magnitude shake-up in 1986. And remember 1998? That’s when the last damaging quake (a magnitude 4.5) decided to rock and roll.

So, while Mother Earth was giving Ohioans a bit of a jolt, everyone seems to be okay. Traffic cameras got their shaky footage, houses stayed put, and the Earth reminded us that it’s got moves even on a Sunday night. Who said life in Ohio was boring, right? 🌍💃🏼
