Escape from Hospital: Officers Admit to Sleeping on Duty
Two officers from the Virginia Department of Corrections have admitted to being asleep on duty when Naseem Isaiah Roulack made a daring escape from a hospital in August. An administrative investigation has confirmed this shocking revelation.
Roulack, who remains at large, had his metal handcuffs removed during a hospital visit, replaced with nylon “flex cuffs” for an MRI procedure. Unfortunately, they were never switched back to the more secure metal cuffs, making his escape even easier.
Roulack, a 21-year-old serving a 13-year sentence for charges of aggravated malicious wounding, grand larceny, and hit-and-run, managed to escape before 6 a.m. on August 12. He has since been linked to a carjacking and kidnapping incident in Maryland outside Washington, D.C.
On the Run and Considered Dangerous
The U.S. Marshals Service has declared Roulack as “armed and dangerous.” State and federal authorities are now offering a combined reward of $20,000 for information leading to his capture.
The officers who confessed to being asleep on duty have resigned, according to a department press release.
