Tragic Incident Involving 13-Year-Old Struck by Police Car on Long Island

In a heart-wrenching turn of events, a 13-year-old boy is set to be removed from life support following a collision with a police car on Long Island. Anthony Stinson, who was severely injured in the incident, will no longer be on life support, according to his mother, Claudia Stinson.

The unfortunate incident occurred on a Saturday in Shirley when a Suffolk County police cruiser struck young Anthony. Tragically, Anthony was declared brain dead just two days later on Monday.

Suffolk police authorities released a statement indicating that the officer involved in the accident was responding to a distress call at the time of the collision. She had activated her emergency lights and siren and made an attempt to avoid the teenager. However, she ultimately collided with Anthony shortly before 8 p.m. The impact also resulted in the police car hitting a stationary vehicle, a tree, and two parked cars.

Following the incident, the injured teen was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital. There, he was placed on life support to facilitate organ donation, as per his mother’s wishes.

The identity of the officer involved in the accident has not been disclosed, but it’s known that she sustained minor injuries. As of now, Suffolk police have provided no updates on the ongoing investigation into the crash.

This tragic incident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of road safety and the profound impact such accidents can have on the lives of those involved. Our thoughts are with the Stinson family during this incredibly difficult time.
