Mother Arrested After Daughter Falls From Moving Car Roof
In a shocking incident, a woman from northwestern Indiana now faces multiple charges after her 11-year-old daughter fell from the roof of a moving car. This incident left the young girl with several injuries. Court records have shed light on this alarming incident.
The 36-year-old woman from Portage was taken into custody and booked at the Porter County Jail on Tuesday. She is now facing some serious charges, including two felony counts of neglect of a dependent, as well as two misdemeanor counts of criminal recklessness and misdemeanor false informing. These charges are related to the event that occurred on August 3.
According to information reported by The Times of Northwest Indiana, a witness revealed that the young girl said, “Hi,” and then incredibly, “I’m going to fall” before she tumbled off the car roof, becoming unconscious.
The consequences of this accident were severe. The child sustained a skull fracture, a concussion, and various abrasions on her shoulder, foot, elbow, and side, as stated by the police.
What makes this situation even more alarming is that the witness explained that after the incident, the woman got out of the car, took her daughter by the arm, put her in the vehicle, and simply drove away.
When questioned by the police, the mother said that she allows her 11-year-old daughter and her 9-year-old son to hang onto the back of her car while riding skateboards. She claimed that she was driving at a speed of only 4 to 5 miles per hour when she realized her daughter had fallen from her skateboard. She thought her daughter had hit her head, so she picked her up and drove her home.
However, the witness had a different story to tell. He stated that the girl was on the roof of the car, and he had seen the woman drive with her children on top of it on previous occasions.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety and the consequences of reckless actions. It’s crucial to prioritize the well-being of children and ensure their safety at all times.
